System Overview Welcome to the PD able default PD system. This is a suite of essential tools offered in a generic manner. It is suited to people from any walks of life wanting to actively address continuing education. It's a powerful system for PD FREE subscribers. Added features, such as an ability to spread points over multiple areas of competency and run Peer Groups make it compelling for PD PREMIUM subscribers. The system is geared around recording completion of activities, and then being able to report on those achievements. Planning and tracking are overlaid to round out the package.
Structure The PD able default system cycle is built on a calendar year, running annually from 1 Jan - 31 Dec. This gives a relevant window of focus that planning and goals are structured around. Note that the targets provided are purely there as a guide to help you understand common levels of activity, and to provide a yardstick for measuring your progress. The system uses the term 'Points' to measure the level of learning activity completed. The 'points' are a blended measure of hours, items and quality of the PD completed.
Building Blocks The system has key building blocks which help organise and understand your approach. Areas of Competency are the relevant topics that PD is measured against. Competencies in PD able default system are deliberately kept very generic as they apply to all professions. Custom PD systems will normally define completencies that align with topics specific to their target profession. An Activity is a single learning instance such as an online Module or an Event Attendance. Completion of an Activity can entered using one of over 30 'Activity Type' templates provided. Activities are also aligned with Learning Methods. These are labels such as Structured and Self Directed and are designed to provide insight to the environments where activity is being completed. Limits and minimum requirements are set against these attributes. These are to ensure Points are earned in a balanced manner and to offer meaningful goals. Refer other pages in this help section for more details of the Structure and Rules applied.
We hope you enjoy using this system.
