We’re excited to share that PD able is now a member of EdTechNZ, Aotearoa New Zealand’s education technology community.

For us, it feels like a natural fit.

PD able was built around a fairly simple idea: professional development should be easier to manage, easier to access and more useful for the people doing it. We’ve spent a lot of time building tools that help organisations, employers and professionals manage learning, planning, records, evidence and compliance without making the process unnecessarily complicated.

Joining EdTechNZ gives us the opportunity to be part of a much bigger conversation about how technology can improve education and learning.

Connecting with people who are making a difference

One of the things we’ve really enjoyed about being part of the EdTech community is the opportunity to get out of our own little bubble.

EdTechNZ brings together founders, educators, education providers, technology companies, government representatives and others who are interested in what technology can do for learning.

And their events are a great example of that.

It’s pretty cool to walk into a room and meet people who are building new ideas, tackling problems in education and trying to make a genuine difference. There’s a lot of sharing, discussion and curiosity, and we always come away with something to think about.

For a start-up company like PD able, those connections are valuable.

Sometimes it’s a conversation with another founder. Sometimes it’s hearing directly from someone working in education. Sometimes it’s simply discovering that someone else is wrestling with the same problem you’ve been thinking about.

Building from Aotearoa

There’s another reason membership matters to us.

PD able is proudly built in New Zealand, but our work has never been limited to New Zealand. We’re already supporting professional development across different sectors and markets, and we think there’s something special about being part of a local technology community that connects us with others who are looking to make a difference both here in Aotearoa and around the world.

EdTechNZ describes its role as connecting, promoting and advancing the education technology sector, supporting organisations from early-stage startups through to established companies looking to grow internationally.

That aligns nicely with where we’re heading.

PD able is already being used to support professional development in different sectors, and we’re continuing to build new systems for different professions and organisations. We’re interested in seeing where those opportunities can take us, both here in Aotearoa and further afield.

A community rather than just a membership

For us, joining EdTechNZ isn’t about putting another logo on the website.

It’s about being part of a community.

We like the idea of being around people who are willing to share ideas, challenge the status quo and experiment with better ways of doing things. We’re still learning too, and being able to connect with others who are on a similar journey is a big part of the appeal.

And who knows where those conversations might lead?

One of the things we’ve always liked about PD able is that when we see a gap, we can build something to fill it. That could be a new professional development system, a better way of tracking learning, or simply a small feature that makes someone’s day a little easier.

Being part of EdTechNZ gives us more opportunities to see those gaps, hear different perspectives and connect with people who are trying to solve them too.

So, hello EdTechNZ. We’re looking forward to being part of the community, meeting more of you at events and seeing what we can build together.

He waka eke noa. We’re all in this together.
