About Teaching - Australia - ACT professional development

The Teaching Australia ACT PL System is developed specifically for Proficient Teachers working within the Australian Capital Territory, providing structured support for managing professional learning in accordance with the requirements of the Teacher Quality Institute (TQI).

Designed with ACT’s professional standards and renewal processes in mind, this system allows you to document, monitor, and evaluate your development activities all in one place. It’s built to reduce administrative overhead while helping you meet both your obligations and your career goals.

At the core is an intuitive dashboard that presents your progress using charts, data tables, and key indicators. You’ll be able to see what you’ve completed, where your efforts are focused, and which areas may need attention. Behind the scenes, the platform supports the recording of TQI-recognised PL, building and maintaining Professional Learning Plans (PLPs), accessing learning resources, and more.

SYSTEM OVERVIEW

In the ACT, the Teacher Quality Institute (TQI) oversees teacher registration and renewal. To maintain registration, teachers are required to complete professional learning that supports their ongoing development and aligns with national standards.
The current requirement for Proficient Teachers in the ACT is:

  • 20 hours of TQI-recognised professional learning annually, aligned with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.

The Teaching AU ACT PL System is built to help you meet these requirements effortlessly. It allows you to track activities, generate transcripts, and maintain compliance without the stress of manual documentation.

The Teaching AU PD System Network

Teaching Australia offers a network of PL systems built for each state and territory. While each system is customised to local policies and registration bodies, they all share a unified structure — making transitions between systems seamless if you relocate.
Available systems include:

Teachers can retain their PD history within their original system or carry it forward when moving between jurisdictions.

IN SUMMARY

The Teaching Australia ACT PL System is a practical and powerful tool for ACT teachers, built to help you manage your TQI obligations with ease. Whether you're focused on meeting yearly targets or building long-term expertise, this platform supports your growth with clarity and confidence.
