About Teaching - Australia - VIC professional development

The Teaching Australia Victoria PL System has been carefully designed to reflect the unique professional learning requirements of Proficient Teachers registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT). It supports educators in meeting their obligations while also helping them chart a long-term path of professional growth.

This platform isn’t just about compliance — it’s a centralised space where you can plan, track, and reflect on your development. With features tailored to the VIT renewal process, it simplifies the administrative load while keeping your focus on meaningful professional learning.

At the heart of the system is a user-friendly dashboard. Here, a series of clean visuals and summary tables give a clear overview of your PL activities, progress towards annual and multi-year goals, and any gaps that may need attention. Beneath the surface, you’ll find tools to log PL, develop Professional Learning Plans (PLPs), browse curated resources, and access relevant support materials.

SYSTEM OVERVIEW

In Victoria, teachers are required to maintain their registration through the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT). VIT sets out clear expectations for continuing professional development, ensuring that teachers remain effective, current, and committed to high standards of practice.
For full registration, VIT requires:

  • 20 hours of professional learning annually, directly linked to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.

The Teaching AU VIC PL system enables you to keep your learning well-documented and easy to present during your annual renewal. It offers a straightforward export feature to create transcripts or summaries when needed.

The Teaching AU PL System Family

Teaching Australia offers a family of CPL systems tailored to each Australian state and territory. Each system is built around the local requirements of that jurisdiction, providing a more personalised experience while maintaining the ability to transfer records if you relocate.
Available systems include:

Teachers can carry their PD history across systems, allowing for continuity even when moving between states.

IN SUMMARY

The Teaching AU VIC system provides a practical, structured environment for Victorian teachers to manage their PL obligations confidently. It supports you not just in ticking boxes, but in building a rewarding and strategic professional journey — one that meets VIT standards and sets the foundation for continued growth.
